DELAND, FL -- Stetson Men's Basketball fell to North Alabama 92-64 on Saturday afternoon.
The Hatters came out strong, jumping to an early 10-5 lead behind three-pointers from Jordan Wood and Jamie Phillips Jr. However, the Lions responded with a 10-0 run to take control of the game. Despite Stetson's efforts to chip away at the deficit, the Hatters went into halftime trailing 47-26.
In the second half, the Lions extended their advantage, but Stetson mounted a brief rally with an 8-0 run, capped off by a three-pointer from Alex Doyle that made it 89-64 with just under a minute remaining. Unfortunately, the Hatters couldn't close the gap and fell 92-64.
The Hatters had three players score in double figures, led by Mehki Ellison, who had 20 points. Josh Massey added 11 points and two blocks and Phillips Jr. helped out with 11 points. Stetson did a great job disrupting North Alabama shots in the contest, coming away with five blocks. Stefano Alesso's three rejections led the way individually for the Hatters.
Stetson will face Queens in a rematch on Thursday, January 16, after falling to the Royals 96-87 earlier this season. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 p.m.
