Hatters Set for Two-Game Home Finale Week

DeLAND, Fla. — Stetson University men's soccer closes out the regular season this week with two home matches at the Stetson Athletic Training Center.

The Hatters return to action Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 7:00 p.m. against the UTRGV Vaqueros before hosting their regular-season finale against the North Florida Ospreys on Saturday, Nov. 1, also at 7:00 p.m. Stetson is coming off a tough 1-0 loss to FGCU, looking to finish the season strong and secure a spot in the ASUN Conference Championship.

UTRGV enters the matchup 1-7-1 overall, including a 1-5 mark on the road. The Vaqueros' lone win came in a 6-1 victory over Texas A&M International. UTRGV has scored 10 goals while allowing 19 this season. Eduardo De Oliveira leads the offense with four goals on eight shots on goal, followed by Malang Mandiang with two, while four other Vaqueros have found the net, including Sota Matsuo, who has one goal and two assists. Alexis Gonzalez has started nine games in goal, recording 26 saves on 90 shots faced with one shutout. The Hatters and Vaqueros last met in 2019, with UTRGV earning a 2-0 win in DeLand.

Saturday's opponent, North Florida, enters the matchup after clinching the Graphite Division title with a 2-0 win over Jacksonville. The Ospreys hold an 11-4 overall record, including 4-1 in conference, and a 6-4 mark on the road. Jaxon Reinhardt leads the team with six goals and an assist, while Luc Granitur and Geraldo Neto have each scored five goals. Mark Romano has four goals and leads UNF with four assists. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Luciano Natoli has started 14 matches, making 47 saves on 160 shots faced with eight clean sheets. Stetson leads the all-time series 14-8-1 and is 7-3 when hosting the Ospreys, though UNF won the most recent matchup in Jacksonville 3-0 earlier this month.
