DeLAND, Fla. — The Stetson Hatters and The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros battled to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday night at the Stetson Athletic Training Center for the Hatters finale non-conference match of the season.
After a scoreless first half, UTRGV broke through early in the second with a 50th-minute goal from Eduardo De Oliveira. The Hatters wasted little time responding, as Andres Mata netted the equalizer just three minutes later in the 53rd minute. The goal marked Mata's second of the season and first since Sept. 17, bringing his career total to 17.
Stetson outshot the Vaqueros 9–5, with two attempts on target. Israel Daniels led the Hatters with three shots, while William Mills made his first career start.
In goal, Nicolò Radaelli played the first half and recorded two saves to keep the match level at halftime. Maxwell Bennett took over after the break, adding two more saves while conceding one goal.
With the draw, Stetson moves to 4-8-2 overall and remains 1-3-1 in ASUN play. The Hatters return to ASUN play for their regular-season finale on Saturday at 7 p.m., hosting North Florida at the ATC. The game will stream live on ESPN+.
