Stetson Secures Third Consecutive Victory with 3-1 Win at West Georgia

CARROLLTON, Ga. — Stetson earned a 3-1 win over West Georgia Friday night at The Coliseum, extending the team's winning streak to three straight matches.

The Hatters came out sharp in the opening set, taking advantage of early opportunities to build momentum. Jenna Simmons and Zuzanna Bury led the attack with multiple early kills, while setter Nyah Molina efficiently distributed the ball to keep the offense in rhythm. Behind steady defense from Xinlei Yang and Lilyanna Parker at the net, Stetson controlled the first frame and took it 25-17.

The second set saw the Hatters rally from an early 8-1 deficit. Kills from Yang and Bury helped spark the comeback, and Molina continued to keep the offense steady, setting up Simmons and Parker for timely points. After tying the score at 23-23, Stetson closed out the set 26-24 to take a 2-0 lead.
West Georgia battled back to claim the third set, 25-23, despite another strong showing from Bury and Yang.

Stetson responded quickly in the fourth, jumping out to a commanding lead thanks to a seven-point service run from Jaycee Davis. The Hatters maintained control throughout, with key kills from Balfour, Bury, and Simmons sealing a 25-21 win to clinch the match. During the decisive frame, Molina recorded her third 50 assist match on the season.

"We were able to get the win, but we played a little too up and down," said Head Coach Yang Deng. "Statistically, we got pretty even contributions from each position group. In the second set, we showed great patience and fought back, and the players were able to rise to the occasion when we needed it most."

Bury led the way with 22 kills and 14 digs, marking her 10th double-double of the season. Molina finished with 50 assists and 11 digs, while Simmons added 12 kills. Yang contributed 11 kills and four blocks, and Parker anchored the defense with five blocks. Libero Vitoria Stedile collected a team-high 31 digs to pace the back row.

The Hatters will return to action on Sunday, Nov. 2, facing Queens at 1 p.m. at Curry Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina.
