Hatters Set Personal Records at ASUN XC Championship

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Stetson Cross Country teams finally got their chance to compete in championship season as they took part in the ASUN Cross Country Championships on Friday in Jacksonville.

The women opened the morning with the 5K Championship, where freshman Hannah Judge continued her historic season by rewriting the record book once again. After breaking the freshman 5K record three weeks ago, Judge set a new program all-time record with a time of 17:33.4 — two seconds faster than the previous mark — placing 22nd overall. Freshman Kendall Wampler followed in 48th place (18:29), with sophomore Madison Kerr-Wong and freshman Avery Sommers finishing back-to-back in 53rd (18:33) and 54th (18:34), respectively. Senior Deanna Bottino (62nd, 18:47) and graduate student Sofia Azzollini (87th, 19:58) rounded out the Hatters' top six, while sophomore Kiley Summerlin also competed, finishing 94th in 20:31.

The women's team tied for sixth place but narrowly lost the tiebreaker to Queens, posting an impressive 1–5 average of 18:24.

On the men's side, Stetson put together a strong, tightly packed performance to finish seventh overall and set a new program record for the fastest championship team average at 25:15. Redshirt sophomore Michael Petrovic led the Hatters with a time of 25:01, placing 43rd and ranking seventh all-time in school history. Junior Robbie Champa (49th, 25:10.7) followed closely, with a pack of Hatters right behind him — senior Eduardo Diaz (51st, 25:19.1), junior Seth Singer (52nd, 25:19.3), sophomore Jonathan Pena (53rd, 25:21.8), and freshman Kenan Willard (54th, 25:23.6) — all finishing within seconds of one another. Sophomore Zeke Galbraith (75th, 25:58.3) and freshman Braden Motycka (76th, 26:02.1) came through next, followed by freshmen Parker Armstrong (92nd, 26:28) and Nicholas Zamora (104th, 27:24).

The Hatters will conclude their season in two weeks at the NCAA South Regional in Huntsville, Alabama.
