ORLANDO, Fla. — The Stetson track and field team returned to Orlando this past weekend to compete in the UCF Knights Invite, delivering a series of strong performances highlighted by multiple school records across middle-distance events.
The Hatters opened competition Friday in the women's 1500 meters, where freshman Hannah Judge led the way with a record-breaking performance. Judge crossed the line in 4:40.85 to finish 11th in a competitive field of 26 runners, setting a new program mark. Sophomore Lucille Marquart followed closely behind, placing 15th with a time of 4:45.54.
Later in the day, junior Zeke Galbraith turned in an impressive showing in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase. Galbraith placed third overall out of 13 competitors, clocking a time of 9:30.00 to earn a podium finish.
Action continued Saturday with more record-setting performances in the 800 meters. On the women's side, Marquart broke the school record with a time of 2:19.49, finishing 20th in a deep field of 39 runners. Judge followed just behind, placing 22nd with a time of 2:22.03.
The men's 800 meters saw another standout effort, as sophomore Nicholas Zamora set a new program record with a time of 1:53.91 to finish 11th out of 51 competitors. Freshman Parker Armstrong also competed in the event, posting a time of 1:58.27 to place 34th.
Stetson will continue its outdoor season next weekend at the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Classic, hosted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The two-day meet is scheduled for April 3-4 at the Embry-Riddle Track & Field Complex in Daytona Beach.
