DeLAND, Fla. — The Stetson track and field team will conclude its outdoor season this weekend at the South Florida Invitational, hosted by University of South Florida in Tampa. The men's team will compete Friday, followed by the women's team on Saturday.
Both squads enter the weekend looking to build on a record-breaking season that has seen multiple school records fall and several Hatters climb the program's all-time lists.
On the men's side, freshman Blake Young has been a standout throughout the year. He posted a 14:55 in the 5,000 meters, ranking eighth all-time in program history, and delivered a record-breaking performance in the 10,000 meters, running 30:44 to surpass the previous school mark by more than 20 seconds.
Stetson's middle-distance group has also made its presence felt in the record books. Sophomore Nicholas Zamora set a new school record in the 800 meters at the UCF Invitational with a time of 1:53.91, while fellow sophomore Carlos Cerrud moved into third all-time in the event with a 1:56.85. In the 1,500 meters, Robbie Champa and Kenan Willard have each entered the program's top-three all-time list, recording times of 3:57.37 and 3:58.26, respectively.
On the women's side, the Hatters have matched that success throughout the outdoor season. Freshman Hannah Judge has continued her strong form, breaking the school record in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:40.85 and following it up with a 17:37 performance in the 5,000 meters, ranking sixth all-time.
Sophomore Lucille Marquart has also made a significant impact. After a shortened cross country season due to injury, she returned to break a nine-year-old school record in the 800 meters with a time of 2:19.49. She has also recorded an 18:00.11 in the 5,000 meters, moving into 10th all-time in program history.
The Hatters will look to close out their season on a high note this Friday and Saturday in Tampa.
