Hatters Roll Past Trinity in 87–36 Home Victory

DeLAND, Fla. — The Stetson Hatters delivered their most dominant performance of the young season Friday night, rolling to an 87-36 victory over Trinity College of Florida inside the Insight Credit Union Arena at the Edmunds Center.

Four Hatters scored in double figures as Stetson (3-2) controlled the game from start to finish, fueled by a 52-25 rebounding advantage, 41 bench points, and 22 points off turnovers.

Sophomore forward Raven LeXander led all scorers with a career-high 13 points to go along with three steals, while Cameron Thomas added 12 points in just 13 minutes. Jorah Eppley chipped in 11 points and five assists, and freshman Sophie Locatelli filled the box score with nine points, six assists, and six rebounds. Graduate forward Aleah Sorrentino anchored the interior once again, collecting a team-high seven rebounds.

Stetson seized momentum immediately, jumping out to a 22-6 lead after the first quarter behind strong defensive pressure and nine Trinity turnovers. Promise Keshi sparked the early scoring with a layup, while Sorrentino and Thomas set the tone offensively as the Hatters closed the frame with a surge highlighted by a Candela Garcia-Escribano jumper.

The Hatters kept rolling in the second quarter, opening with a Thomas three-pointer before stacking an 11-0 run to stretch the lead to 42-9. Stetson's defensive intensity never wavered, holding Trinity to just 14 first-half points and entering the break ahead 43-14.

The dominance continued into the third, where the Hatters used another 11-0 spurt—capped by a Keshi basket—to push the advantage to 63-23. LeXander, McMillan, and Eppley continued to attack the paint, helping Stetson score 10 of its 20 third-quarter points at the rim.

Stetson saved its best offensive quarter for last, knocking down four three-pointers in the fourth while stringing together a 12-0 run punctuated by a Mary McMillan layup with 4:41 remaining. The Hatters' defense closed the night with authority, forcing 23 turnovers overall and holding Trinity to just 27.5 percent shooting from the field — Stetson's fewest points allowed in a game since a 92-22 win over Johnson (FL) on Nov. 19, 2022.
