NASHVILLE, TN — Stetson Women's Basketball set a new program record with 17 made three-pointers Tuesday afternoon, powering an 89-63 win over Northern Kentucky at Trojan Fieldhouse. The Hatters shot 50 percent from long range (17-for-34), surpassing the previous record of 14 threes set on Nov. 30, 2018, against Webber International.
Stetson (4-2) featured a balanced scoring attack with four players reaching double figures. Senior guard Cameron Thomas led the way with 23 points, while Mary McMillan added 21 points and six assists. Rose Caso filled the stat sheet with 16 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.
The Hatters assisted on 18 of their 32 made field goals and held NKU to 34.5 percent shooting, including 28.6 percent from beyond the arc.
Stetson set the tone early, using a late first-quarter surge to take a 15-9 lead that held through the opening period. The Hatters then opened the second quarter with a 10-0 run to build a 25-10 advantage. Northern Kentucky made a push late in the half, but Stetson maintained control and entered the break ahead 39-31.
The Hatters broke the game open in the third. Leading 54-38, Stetson reeled off nine straight points to extend the margin to 63-38. Five threes in the period fueled a 26-point quarter and a 65-43 lead heading into the fourth.
Stetson saved its best shooting for last, burying six more threes in the final frame. A 6-0 spurt capped by a Jorah Eppley triple stretched the lead to 86-59, and the Hatters closed out the afternoon with an 89-63 victory.
