Bria Notches 300th Career Win as Hatters Defeat Morgan State, 70-56

BALTIMORE, Md. — Behind another standout performance from Cameron Thomas and a dominant double-double from Aleah Sorrentino, the Stetson Hatters women's basketball team earned a 70-56 road victory over the Morgan State Bears Sunday afternoon at Hill Field House to begin their road trip.

The win improved Stetson's record to 2-1 on the season and marked a milestone moment for Head Coach Lynn Bria, who notched her 300th career victory with the Hatters.

Thomas led all scorers with 23 points, including three 3-pointers and a perfect 6-for-6 effort from the free-throw line, while also adding eight rebounds and three assists. Sorrentino was a force inside, recording her first double-double for the Hatters with 13 points and 10 rebounds, helping Stetson control the glass from start to finish. Mary McMillan chipped in 12 points, five assists, and two steals to round out the Hatters' balanced attack.

The Hatters controlled the paint throughout the contest, out-rebounding Morgan State 45-33 and grabbing 15 offensive boards, which led to 10 second-chance points. Defensively, Stetson held the Lady Bears to 33.9 percent shooting from the floor and 27.8 percent from three-point range.

After falling behind 5-0 early, the Hatters responded with a 7-0 run and took control for good late in the first quarter. Thomas knocked down a pair of early threes, and Promise Keshi added key defensive rebounds as Stetson surged ahead 20-11 by the end of the period.

The Hatters continued to build on their lead in the second quarter behind balanced scoring from McMillan, Thomas, and Sorrentino, taking a 38-28 halftime advantage. Stetson connected on three triples in the frame and kept the Bears from gaining momentum despite a brief scoring push.

Both teams traded baskets through much of the third quarter, with Stetson maintaining a 50-40 lead heading into the final period. The Hatters then closed out the game with poise, using an 11-0 run in the final minutes—highlighted by Thomas's fast-break three and Sorrentino's late layup—to secure the double-digit win.
