ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Stetson junior outside linebacker Andrew Martin earned All-Pioneer Football League Second Team honors for the second straight season, headlining the Hatters' 2025 All-PFL selections as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Martin, a McDonough, Ga., native, continued to establish himself as one of the league's most disruptive defenders. He played in all 12 games for a Stetson team that posted its best record during his tenure, finishing the year with 67 total tackles and 29 solo stops. Martin set new career highs with 9.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks, added three quarterback hits, and closed the season on a tear—recording nine or more tackles in each of the final three games. He capped his year with a season-best 10 tackles and 1.5 sacks in the road game at San Diego.
His latest accolade adds to an impressive résumé that already includes PFL Defensive Freshman of the Year and back-to-back Second Team appearances as a sophomore and junior.
Stetson also saw four Hatters selected as All-PFL Honorable Mentions: senior offensive linemen Eric Brust Jr. and Dawson Harrington, junior linebacker Shug Bentley, and freshman offensive utility player Michael Dempsey.
Brust, a 6-3, 309-pound starter from Palmetto, Florida, appeared in 25 games over his Stetson career, including all 12 games this season at left guard. A powerful and reliable presence, he served as a key anchor for the Hatters' offensive line and played a major role in the team's improvements in the run game.
Harrington, a 6-7, 298-pound veteran from Olathe, Kansas, wrapped up his collegiate career as a mainstay up front, starting all 12 games and appearing in over 40 games throughout his time at Stetson. Together, Brust and Harrington helped the Hatters rush for a league fourth-best 161 yards per game, including a program-record performance against Davidson. Stetson scored 19 rushing touchdowns, making up more than half of the team's total scores.
Bentley, a third-year linebacker from Atlanta, turned in his most productive season as a Hatter. He led the team with 75 tackles, including 4.0 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks, while contributing four pass breakups and an interception returned 16 yards in the win over Morehead State. He tallied nine tackles in four different games, showcasing consistent physical play in the middle of the defense.
Freshman Michael Dempsey made an immediate impact as one of the league's most versatile young playmakers. Appearing in 11 games, Dempsey rushed 50 times for 280 yards and two touchdowns while adding 13 receptions for 187 yards and three scores. He ranked fourth on the team in both rushing and receiving, flashing explosive potential highlighted by a 46-yard touchdown reception.
Stetson's five honorees reflect a strong foundation moving forward as the Hatters continue their momentum under Head Coach Mike Jasper.
