DELAND, FL -- The Stetson men's basketball team got a solid 42-point contribution from its bench but ultimately fell 83-58 to the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at home on Saturday.
The game was tightly contested for the first eight minutes before Eastern Kentucky pulled ahead, leading 36-25 at halftime.
Coming out of the break, Stetson made a push with five straight points, including a three-pointer from Tristan Gross and a layup from Stefano Alesso, trimming the deficit to 36-30. However, the Hatters were unable to close the gap further, falling 83-58 victory.
Stetson had three players in double figures, led by Mehki Ellison with 15 points. Jordan Wood contributed 11 points and two steals off the bench, while Jamie Phillips Jr. also added 11 points as a reserve. Treyton Thompson led the team in rebounds with 8 and also recorded a block.
The Hatters will now head to Tennessee for a matchup against Lipscomb on Thursday, February 13, at 8:15 p.m.
