RICHMOND, KY – The Stetson Hatters dropped a 77-60 decision to the Eastern Kentucky Colonels in the ASUN Quarterfinals on Saturday night. Despite an 18-point effort off the bench, the Hatters were unable to overcome the Colonels. The game, originally scheduled for 3:00 p.m., was postponed to a 9:00 p.m. start due to a campus-wide power outage.
Stetson (16-15) had three players score in double figures, led by ASUN Newcomer of the Year Cameron Thomas with 15 points. Tyra Myers added a season-high 12 points off the bench, while Quentarra Mitchell chipped in 10 points.
Despite the loss, Stetson finished with a higher shooting percentage, hitting 44.7% of its shots from the field. The Hatters also recorded five blocks, including two from Shelby Calhoun, who led the team with six rebounds.
After falling behind 14-8 in the first quarter, the Hatters responded with an 8-0 run, capped by a bucket from Myers, to take a 16-14 lead. Tiasia McMillan beat the buzzer to give Stetson an 18-17 advantage at the end of the quarter.
The Hatters couldn't hold on to their lead in the second quarter and entered halftime trailing 36-28.
Eastern Kentucky extended its lead after halftime, going up 43-32. Stetson mounted a brief rally with a 5-0 run, highlighted by a three-pointer from Thomas, cutting the deficit to 43-37 with 6:26 remaining in the third quarter. However, Eastern Kentucky responded and pushed its lead to 61-49 heading into the fourth. Stetson could not close the gap in the final period, ultimately falling 77-60.
