Katie Kornacki scored a career-high six goals, but Stetson lacrosse came up short in an 18-12 loss to Lindenwood on Saturday afternoon.
The game remained scoreless for the first seven minutes before Lindenwood struck with four straight goals to take early control.
Samantha King put the Hatters on the board with her 25th goal of the season, but Stetson trailed 6-1 at the end of the first quarter.
Miya Scanlan opened the scoring for Stetson in the second, followed by Kornacki's first goal to cut the deficit to 7-3. After another Lindenwood tally,
Lexi Bird answered with her fourth goal of the season. Kornacki and
Kaitlin Pani then scored back-to-back goals, trimming the Lions' lead to 10-6. Lindenwood responded with two more goals before Kornacki completed her hat trick just before halftime, bringing the score to 12-7 at the break.
In the third quarter, Kornacki continued her dominant performance with two more goals, while Pani added her second of the day. The Hatters entered the fourth quarter trailing 16-10.
Kornacki and Pani each found the net again in the final period, but Lindenwood matched with two goals of their own to close out the game.
Stetson will close out the regular season in Tampa with a matchup against USF on Wednesday, April 23 at 6:00 p.m.
