Jacksonville, Fla. – Stetson softball dropped both games to North Florida on Saturday, April 5.
In the first game,
Caitlyn Kulczyski started for Stetson, pitching three innings and allowing two runs on four hits and two walks, while striking out two batters.
The Hatters struck early, scoring three runs in the top of the first.
Addison Foster reached base with a bunt single to the pitcher and quickly stole second.
Kami Eppley followed with a bunt of her own, also stealing second.
Amber Chumley came through with an RBI single to left field, giving Stetson a 1-0 lead. Chumley stole second, and
Nadia English singled to left, driving in two more runs to make it 3-0.
North Florida responded with eight unanswered runs. Stetson managed to get one back when Foster grounded out to second, bringing in
Annabella McClerren. However, the Hatters were unable to rally further, falling 8-4.
In the second game,
Ava Braswell started for Stetson, pitching 2.1 innings and giving up three runs, two earned, on three hits and three walks, while striking out two batters.
Stetson trailed 3-0 after three innings but made it a one-run game with two runs in the top of the fourth. McClerren led off the rally by getting hit by a pitch, and
Devon Weller followed with a double down the right field line for her second extra-base hit of the game.
Madelyn Synoracki then delivered a 2-RBI single up the middle to bring both runners home, making it 3-2. Unfortunately, the Hatters couldn't score any more runs and fell 10-2.
Stetson and North Florida will conclude the series on Sunday, April 6, at 2:00 PM.
