Chumley and Anthony Homer in 13-5 Loss to #8 Florida

DeLand, Fla. – Dylan Anthony and Amber Chumley each blasted a home run in Stetson's 13-5 loss to #8 Florida on Wednesday evening. Despite the setback, the Hatters' five runs marked the most they've ever scored against the Gators.

Caitlyn Kulczyski got the start in the circle for Stetson, going two innings and allowing five runs—four earned—on five hits and one walk, while striking out one.

Kulczyski opened strong, retiring the Gators in the first while allowing just one base runner via walk. In the bottom half, the Hatters loaded the bases but were unable to capitalize.

Florida broke through in the second with back-to-back home runs to take a 3-0 lead. Stetson responded in the bottom half. Dylan Anthony led off with a single up the middle, and Alivia Taibl entered to pinch run. Taibl advanced to third on a wild pitch and a groundout, then scored when Addison Foster legged out an infield single, cutting the deficit to 3-1.

The Gators added two more in the top of the third, but the Hatters struck back. Chumley sent a solo shot over the left field wall to make it 5-2. Nadia English was then hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a wild pitch. After a groundout moved her to third, Annabella McClerren was also hit by a pitch to put runners on the corners. Anthony followed with a laser over the left-center wall, tying the game at 5-5.

However, the momentum was short-lived as Florida exploded for eight runs in the top of the fourth, ultimately sealing the game in five innings.

Anthony, Chumley, and Foster each collected two hits and at least one RBI. Foster extended her on-base streak to 22 games.

The Hatters will return to action this weekend, hosting Queens for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 12, starting at 1:00 PM.
