Hatters Take Fourth in 2025 MAAC Championship

Glover Named First Team All-MAAC; Rees, Starrwalker make Second Team

PENNSAUKEN TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Stetson Women's Rowing placed fourth overall at the 2025 MAAC Women's Rowing Championship on Sunday at Cooper River Park, earning 38 points and securing their highest finish since 2022. The Hatters finished just behind Fairfield, Jacksonville, and Marist, but edged out Sacred Heart by two points.

Head Coach Jamie Francis expressed his pride in the team's performance, stating, "I'm very proud of the women today, not because of the results from today's championship, but because of the work that they put in and the challenges that they overcame in order to achieve today's results."

The Hatters put together a strong effort across all events, highlighted by a second-place finish in the Varsity Eight Grand Final. In a competitive race, Stetson crossed the line in 6:44.315, besting Jacksonville, Marist, and Sacred Heart. In the Second Varsity Eight Grand Final, Stetson finished in fifth place with a time of 7:11.645, while the Varsity Four concluded their race in sixth place with a time of 8:48.579.

"In conditions that were nearly unrowable, each boat progressed to the grand final where they maximized their performance," Francis added. "The first Varsity Eight silver medal is only the second time in history that Stetson has achieved that performance at the MAAC Championship. That finish, combined with the Second Varsity Eight's finish and the Four's finish, provided the best team finish in history."

Earlier in the day, Stetson's crews qualified for the finals in their respective events. The Varsity Four finished 3rd in Heat 2 with a time of 8:54.708, the Second Varsity Eight placed 3rd in Heat 2 with a time of 7:21.003, and the Varsity Eight also secured 3rd in Heat 2 with a time of 6:57.609.

"I'm also pleased that Ella Glover was recognized as a First Team All-Conference Rower and that Emma Rees and Maia Starrwalker were recognized as Second Team All-Conference Rowers," Francis continued. "None of this would've been possible without our seniors, and I want to send them a special thank you."
