DELAND, FL – The Stetson Hatters dropped a 10-1 decision to the West Georgia Wolves on Sunday afternoon, despite a strong performance from junior Isaiah Barkett, who went 3-for-4 at the plate. The loss marked just their fourth in-conference setback this season, as the Hatters moved to 32-17 overall.
Junior Ethan Phillips got the start for Stetson and took the loss, while freshman Andrew Lepine turned in a solid effort out of the bullpen. The right-hander delivered 2.1 scoreless innings, scattering three hits, issuing one walk, and striking out two.
Barkett sparked the offense early, extending his hitting streak to 13 games with a leadoff single and later coming around to score in the first inning. That early momentum gave Stetson the lead, but West Georgia responded with 10 runs over the next eight frames.
The Hatters return to action Tuesday night, looking to bounce back against Bethune-Cookman at 6:30 PM at Melching Field.
