NEW YORK and ATLANTA – Stetson®, in partnership with CLC, the nation's leading collegiate brand licensing agency, announced the introduction of a specially designed, officially licensed headwear collection for seven universities - including Stetson University.
Stetson, known for its high-quality, western-inspired headwear that has become a pop-culture must-have for fashion forward individuals and celebrities alike, worked in collaboration with leading collegiate licensee L2 Brands to bring the hats to market. Each hat is uniquely designed for the participating universities and will feature branding of the school, tastefully integrated into the hat band.
Texas A&M University will be the inaugural school in the collection, launching at the Aggies' football home opener on August 30. Stetson University and the Stetson University Bookstore will conduct its product launch on September 20, in conjunction with the Hatters' 1 p.m. football game against Harvard University at Spec Martin Memorial Stadium.
"College sports have a way of bringing people together, and that's exactly what we wanted this collection to do." said Robert Dundon, CEO at Stetson. "We're proud to put the Stetson name alongside these schools—it feels like a natural match. Fans will see their own spirit and tradition reflected in a brand that's been part of American culture for over 160 years."
In addition to Stetson University and Texas A&M, the other six institutions in the Stetson Gameday Collection by launch date include:
University of Texas at Austin – launching September 5 (available at the COOP and Big Bertha's Bazaar on game day)
University of Oklahoma – launching September 6 (available at Fanatics In-Stadium Stores)
Texas Christian University – launching September 13 (available at the TCU Campus Store)
Texas Tech University – launching September 13 (available at Red Raider Outfitters)
Oklahoma State University – launching September 27 (available at Oklahoma State Student Union Bookstore)
"From the vision of our staff to collaborate with Stetson, to working with the Stetson team to develop the beautiful hats that are a part of this collection, we are thrilled to help deliver this distinctive product program exclusively for our CLC partner schools," said Nicole Armentrout, CLC's senior vice president of marketing. "Our goal is to develop customized product opportunities that will appeal to each facet of a school's fan base, and we are excited to introduce this collection for those fashion-forward fans that appreciate the workmanship and quality that Stetson represents."
Stetson's collegiate hats are exclusively available at each respective school's campus retailer. In the case of Stetson University, Follett operates the Stetson University Bookstore located in the Carlton Student Union.
Stetson University and Stetson share a unique bond, as the institution was renamed in 1889 to honor major benefactor John B. Stetson. Nicknamed the Hatters, the school's current mascot is named John B. The mascot, which is a fixture at Stetson and community events, made its first public appearance on Jan. 20,2012. The campus also features a statue of John B. Stetson and it is common for Stetson students to wear Stetson hats to signature campus events such as convocation and graduation.
