TAMPA, Fla. — Despite a strong defensive effort and several promising offensive moments, the Stetson Hatters fell 3-0 to South Florida on Sunday evening at Corbett Stadium.
Stetson (1-4-1) matched USF's intensity through much of the first half, holding the Bulls scoreless until the 37th minute. The Hatters entered halftime trailing just 1-0.
USF added two goals midway through the second half, but Stetson continued to battle, earning four corner kicks and nearly converting a late opportunity from Payton Quinones before the final whistle.
Goalkeeper Riley Tarvin recorded three saves and helped keep the match close despite consistent pressure from the USF attack. Offensively, the Hatters generated nine total shots — four on target — with key chances created by Stella Comana, Madison Bell, and Quinones.
Stetson returns home on Thursday, September 11, to host Troy. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Athletic Training Center.
