Stetson Earns Convincing Win in Charlotte

McMillan's 18 Pts and Sorrentino's Double-Double Power Hatters to Victory

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Behind a balanced offensive attack and a dominant performance on the glass, the Stetson women's basketball team earned a 69–61 road victory over Queens University of Charlotte on Thursday night at Curry Arena.

The Hatters (10-6, 3-2 ASUN) controlled the game from the opening minutes, never trailing after the first quarter, while holding a 45–35 rebounding advantage and converting turnovers into key transition opportunities. Stetson finished with 26 fast-break points and 13 second-chance points to maintain control throughout the contest.

Aleah Sorrentino led the way with a double-double, posting 14 points and 12 rebounds, her first of the season. Mary McMillan paced the offense with a game-high 18 points and six rebounds, while Promise Keshi anchored the defensive effort with eight points, eight rebounds, three steals, and two blocks.

Stetson jumped out early, using a 7–0 run midway through the opening quarter to take an 11–2 lead. Cameron Thomas sparked the start with a tip-in and a fast-break three-pointer, while Sorrentino capped the period with a late three as the Hatters carried a 14–11 advantage into the second quarter.

The Hatters stretched the lead in the second period, opening on a 10–0 run fueled by McMillan's perimeter shooting and strong interior play from Sorrentino. Stetson pushed the margin to double figures and went into halftime ahead 34–22 after McMillan knocked down a pair of free throws in the final seconds.

Stetson continued to dictate play after the break, leaning on its presence in the paint and active defense. A 7–0 surge late in the third quarter, punctuated by a bucket from Eva Bradshaw, extended the lead to 50–30. The Hatters outscored Queens 18–13 in the frame and entered the fourth quarter with a 52–35 cushion.

Queens made a late push in the final period, but Stetson answered with timely baskets and free throws to keep the Royals at bay. Contributions from the bench and continued rebounding strength helped the Hatters close out the 69–61 victory.

The Hatters will return to action on Saturday to close out their road trip. They head to Carrollton, Georgia to face the West Georgia Wolves at The Coliseum. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM with streaming available on ESPN+ and live stats available at GoHatters.com. Follow Stetson Women's Basketball on social media for up-to-date news about the team.
