Hatters Rally in Fourth to Top North Alabama, 66-62

FLORENCE, Ala. — Stetson Women's Basketball closed the game on a 21-13 fourth-quarter run Thursday night to earn a 66-62 road win over North Alabama at CB&S Bank Arena at Flowers Hall.

The Hatters (12-8, 5-4 ASUN) knocked down nine three-pointers and used timely defense down the stretch to secure the comeback victory after trailing 49-45 entering the final quarter. Stetson also capitalized on 13 North Alabama turnovers, turning those takeaways into 13 points.

Stetson struck first as Promise Keshi opened the scoring with a layup before Cameron Thomas buried a three-pointer to cap a 5-0 run at the 8:43 mark. North Alabama responded quickly and found its rhythm offensively, using a late layup from Alexsandra Alvarado to take an 18-13 lead after one.

The Lions extended their advantage early in the second quarter, but the Hatters answered with energy on both ends. Aleah Sorrentino picked up a steal and Rose Caso knocked down a three to pull Stetson within two. Jorah Eppley later tied the game at 24-24 with a three-pointer, assisted by Mary McMillan, before North Alabama regained control at the free-throw line in the final minute to take a 34-29 lead into halftime.

Stetson continued to chip away in the third quarter, trimming the deficit behind balanced scoring and strong play around the basket. Sorrentino converted a layup off a turnover and added a pair of free throws to make it a one-point game early, while Eva Bradshaw connected from deep midway through the period. The Hatters stayed within striking distance, but a late North Alabama basket sent the Lions into the fourth with a 49-45 edge.

The Hatters delivered their best stretch in the final 10 minutes, opening the quarter with a Thomas three to briefly pull ahead. Sorrentino followed with a layup and a free throw to tie the game at 51-51, continuing a strong scoring stretch as she recorded her fifth straight game with 14 or more points. McMillan drilled a key three-pointer with 2:53 remaining to put Stetson in front, and Eppley iced the win at the line in the final seconds as the Hatters held on for the 66-62 comeback.
