DeLand, Fla. — Stetson men's basketball returns home for a pair of ASUN matchups, hosting Lipscomb on Thursday, Jan. 8, at 7:00 p.m., before welcoming Austin Peay on Saturday, Jan. 10, at 2:00 p.m.
Stetson enters the week at 5–10 overall after opening ASUN play with a split on the road. The Hatters rallied from behind to earn a 70–67 win at North Alabama, led by a career-high 29 points from
Jamie Phillips Jr., before falling at Central Arkansas. Phillips followed up his career night with another 20-plus point performance against the Bears, marking the second time this season he has posted back-to-back games with at least 20 points. He continues to lead Stetson in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.
Ethan Copeland remains a steady offensive presence, averaging 12.7 points per game while shooting 41 percent from three-point range and leading the team with 23 steals.
Calvin Sirmans III has been the primary facilitator for the Hatters, pacing the squad with a team-high 62 assists. As a team, Stetson is averaging 69 points per game while shooting 43 percent from the field, 32 percent from beyond the arc, and 64 percent from the free-throw line.
Lipscomb enters Thursday's matchup with a 9–6 overall record and a 2–0 start to ASUN play. The Bisons feature four players averaging double figures, led by Grant Asman at 13.9 points per game. Asman also leads the team in rebounds (6.6 per game) and blocks (17). Ross Candelino adds 11.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest, while Titas Sargiunas and Mateo Esmeraldo contribute 10.3 and 10.1 points per game, respectively. Esmeraldo also leads Lipscomb in assists with 103 and has recorded 19 steals. As a unit, the Bisons are averaging 81 points per game while shooting 45 percent from the field, 36 percent from three-point range, and 76 percent from the free-throw line.
Austin Peay comes to DeLand with an 8–5 overall record and a 2–0 mark in ASUN play. The Governors will face FGCU prior to Saturday's contest. Collin Parker leads Austin Peay in scoring at 15.8 points per game and is tied for the team lead in rebounding at six per game. Ty Robinson follows closely at 13.5 points per contest and leads the team with 54 assists. Rashaud Marshall and Tate McCubbin round out the double-digit scorers, averaging 12.0 and 11.7 points per game, respectively. Austin Peay averages 80 points per game as a team while shooting 44 percent from the field, 34 percent from three, and 73 percent from the free-throw line.
Thursday's game marks the 46th meeting between Stetson and Lipscomb, with the teams splitting their last two matchups. Saturday's contest will be the fifth all-time meeting between Stetson and Austin Peay, with the Hatters holding a 3–1 advantage in the series.
