Hatters Wrap Up Regular Season at Crimson Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Stetson cross country wrapped up its regular season Saturday morning at the Crimson Classic, hosted by the University of Alabama, with both the men's and women's teams turning in strong performances ahead of the postseason.

The men's team opened the morning with an unconventional race distance of 8,085 meters. Seth Singer and Jonathan Pena led the way for the Hatters, finishing back-to-back in 37th and 38th place, respectively. Sophomore Kenan Willard and Robbie Champa continued the trend, crossing the finish line in 25:58 and 26:00 to place 67th and 69th, respectively. Blake Young also returned to competition for Stetson, finishing 73rd.

The Hatters men placed ninth overall, finishing ahead of Memphis, Chattanooga and nationally ranked Central Arkansas, which entered the meet ranked No. 15 in the region.

On the women's side, Stetson brought three individual runners to Tuscaloosa, and all three finished within six seconds of one another. Sophomore Hannah Judge returned to the lineup and led the Hatters, clocking a 22:26 to finish 105th on the shortened 6K course. Avery Sommers followed closely in 108th at 22:29 after moving up 12 positions over the final 2K. Junior Madi Kerr-Wong rounded out the group with a time of 22:32. With three individual competitors, the Hatters did not record a team score.

Looking Ahead
Stetson will return to action at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 30 for the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships in Richmond, Kentucky. The Hatters will look to build on a strong regular season as they head into the postseason.
