NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Stetson women's soccer created several scoring opportunities Sunday afternoon but came up short in a 1-0 loss to Lipscomb at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex. The Hatters put five of their nine shots on goal, while
Clare Boesel recorded seven saves over 90 minutes.
Boesel helped keep the match scoreless in the first half, making three saves as Lipscomb applied pressure. Stetson also generated a strong attacking stretch late in the half, recording five shots and earning three corner kicks between the 33rd and 43rd minutes, but the Hatters were unable to find the back of the net before halftime.
Lipscomb broke the deadlock in the 64th minute but the Hatters continued to look for an equalizer.
Stella Comana put a shot on goal and
Julianna Liguori added an attempt as Stetson earned two corner kicks in the 74th minute.
Boesel made four additional saves in the second half to keep the Hatters within striking distance, but Stetson could not find the tying goal.
