Hatters Drop 6-1 Decision to Louisiana

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Stetson dropped a 6-1 decision to the University of Louisiana on Saturday. The Hatters picked up a doubles win at the No. 3 position and a singles victory at No. 2, but Louisiana secured the doubles point and five singles matches to earn the overall result.

Louisiana claimed the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. Martina Della Gora and Safia Zenbi defeated Anastasija Adeikyte and Katsiaryna Tuliakova 7-6(3) at No. 1 doubles, while Angelique Berrat and Nina Krecklenberg topped Pilar Astigarraga Harper and Dana Baidaulet 6-3 at No. 2. Stetson closed doubles with a strong showing at No. 3, as Clelia Lombardi and Yuki Mizuguchi earned a 6-1 win over Lou-Agathe Etienne and Ana Martinez Vaquero.

In singles play, Louisiana extended its lead at No. 1 singles, where Angelique Berrat defeated Pilar Astigarraga Harper 6-4, 6-0. Katsiaryna Tuliakova responded for the Hatters at No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Marilou Bressan.

Safia Zenbi added another point for Louisiana at No. 3 singles, defeating Adeikyte 6-4, 6-3, 5-7. The Ragin' Cajuns secured additional three-set wins at Nos. 4 and 5 singles, as Martina Della Gora defeated Baidaulet 6-2, 6-1, 6-4, and Ana Martinez Vaquero topped Mizuguchi 6-2, 6-1, 6-4. Rocio Navarro closed the match at No. 6 singles with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Lombardi.
