EUGENE, Ore. — Stetson battled tough competition Saturday at the Oregon Classic, dropping a 5-2 decision to Idaho State before falling 4-1 to No. 17 Oregon at Jane Sanders Stadium.

The Hatters outhit Idaho State with eight hits, including a pair of doubles, but three Bengals home runs proved to be the difference.
Idaho State struck first in the opening inning with a two-run homer to take a 2-0 lead. Stetson chipped away in the fourth when
Amber Chumley doubled and later scored on
Avery Terpsma's sacrifice fly to make it 2-1.
The Bengals responded with a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth to push the margin to 4-1. Stetson answered again in the fifth as
Logan Forman doubled and came home on
Nadia English's RBI single, cutting the deficit to 4-2. Idaho State added a solo homer in the sixth to seal the 5-2 final.
Irianis Garcia led the Hatters with two hits and added four assists defensively. English finished with two hits, an RBI and a stolen base, while Forman doubled and scored a run.

Jenna Johnston worked three innings, allowing two earned runs.
Kennedy Temples and Caitlin Kulczyski combined in relief to close out the game.

In the second game of the day, Stetson was limited to two hits but struck first in the opening inning.

Oregon answered in the bottom half with a solo homer to tie the game and took the lead for good in the third on an RBI double. The Ducks added two more runs in the fifth on a run-scoring triple and a fielder's choice to extend the advantage to 4-1.
Ava Braswell tossed five innings, allowing four earned runs on seven hits. Temples added a scoreless inning in relief.
Edmiaston accounted for Stetson's lone run with her first-inning homer. Defensively,
