Stetson Bats Stay Hot in 10–2 Victory Over North Florida

DeLAND, Fla. — Stetson defeated North Florida 10–2 on Friday night at Patricia Wilson Field, powered by a 15-hit offensive performance that included two home runs to open conference play.

The Hatters improved to 16–11 on the season, using early offense and a dominant second inning to take control, while North Florida fell to 25–6.

Stetson struck first in the bottom of the opening inning, plating two runs on three consecutive doubles. Nicole Edmiaston started the rally with a double, followed by an RBI double from Amber Chumley. Gabby David then delivered another double to bring home Chumley, giving the Hatters an early 2–0 lead.

The Hatters broke the game open in the second inning. After hits from Gaby Bauer and Gia Napoli and a walk by Annabella McClerren loaded the bases, Edmiaston delivered the decisive swing with a grand slam to deep left field, her 11th home run of the season, extending the lead to 6–0.

Edmiaston finished a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and was a triple shy of the cycle, while Napoli added three hits for her first multi-hit game of the season.

North Florida pushed across two runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by a solo home run from Hannah Davila, but Stetson quickly regained momentum.

Amber Chumley helped put the game out of reach in the sixth inning, launching a two-run home run to right field, her fourth of the season, scoring Edmiaston after a single. RBI singles from Bauer and McClerren later in the inning helped the Hatters earn the run rule win.

In the circle, Ava Braswell delivered another strong outing, tossing her fifth complete game of the season. The sophomore allowed four hits and two earned runs across six innings while striking out two and walking one. Braswell threw 93 pitches, including 58 strikes, and induced 10 groundouts to keep the Ospreys' offense in check.
