Hatters Head to Magnolia Collegiate Invitational in Mobile

DeLAND, Fla. — The Stetson women's golf team returns to action next week when the Hatters travel to Mobile, Ala., to compete in the Magnolia Collegiate Invitational, hosted by South Alabama at the RTJ Magnolia Grove Golf Course. The two-day tournament will run Monday, March 16 through Tuesday, March 17.

Stetson enters the event coming off a strong showing at the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational in St. George, Utah, where the Hatters finished runner-up in a nine-team field. Stetson held the lead after the opening round and remained in contention throughout the tournament before finishing five strokes behind Weber State.

Individually, Isaki Sakashita delivered another standout performance, tying for first at 2-under-par before finishing runner-up in a playoff. Sakashita led the field with 13 birdies during the event. Anna Huettl also recorded one of her top finishes of the season, placing tied for third at 1-under-par after firing a 3-under 69 in the second round.

Filippa Jansson added a top-10 finish for the Hatters, tying for ninth, while Ailsa Brannock and Julieta Oviedo each finished tied for 13th. Oviedo highlighted the week with an eagle on the par-5 14th hole during the second round.

The Magnolia Collegiate Invitational will feature a 13-team field including ASUN Conference opponents Lipscomb, West Georgia, North Alabama and Central Arkansas. New Haven, UT Arlington, Seminole State, Navy, James Madison, Missouri State and Southern Mississippi round out the field alongside host South Alabama.

The Hatters lineup for the tournament will consist of Isaki Sakashita, Anna Huettl, Filippa Jansson, Ailsa Brannock and Julieta Oviedo, while freshman Maggie Potash will compete as an individual.
