DeLand, Fla. — Stetson University head men's basketball coach Donnie Jones has announced the hiring of Josh Adel as an assistant coach for the Hatters.
Adel brings nearly two decades of Division I experience to Stetson, having built an impressive résumé with stops at Radford, Minnesota, Florida and Florida International.
"Josh brings tremendous experience and comes from some excellent programs. His knowledge and background will make an immediate impact on our team," said Head Coach Donnie Jones.
Most recently, Adel spent the 2025-26 season as an assistant coach at Radford University.
Prior to joining the Highlanders, Adel spent 11 seasons at the University of Minnesota, steadily climbing the coaching ladder from operations director to video coordinator before being promoted to assistant coach.
During his tenure in Minneapolis, Adel helped guide the Golden Gophers to NCAA Tournament appearances in 2017 and 2019 while serving on the staff that captured the 2014 National Invitation Tournament championship. Throughout his time with the program, he played an integral role in recruiting, player development, scouting, game preparation and day-to-day program operations.
Before Minnesota, Adel served as the video coordinator at Florida International during the 2012-13 season under head coach Richard Pitino.
Adel began his collegiate coaching career at the University of Florida, where he spent five seasons under Hall of Fame head coach Billy Donovan. Promoted to head manager in 2009, Adel was part of one of the nation's premier programs as the Gators made three NCAA Tournament appearances, including consecutive Elite Eight appearances in 2011 and 2012. Florida also advanced to the NIT Semifinals in 2008 and the NIT Quarterfinals in 2009 during his tenure.
Known throughout his career as a tireless worker and exceptional teacher of the game, Adel has spent nearly 20 years contributing to player development, recruiting, scouting and winning cultures at the Division I level.
He earned his bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Florida in 2012.
Adel joins the Hatters ahead of the 2026-27 season as Stetson continues preparations for another year of ASUN Conference competition.
