DeLand, Fla. — Stetson volleyball returns to the road this week, making a quick stop in Orlando to face UCF on Wednesday before heading to Buies Creek, North Carolina, for the Campbell Invitational. The Hatters will take on the Knights Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 6 p.m. before facing Ball State and Furman on Friday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively. Stetson will wrap up the tournament Saturday, Sept. 12, against host Campbell at 10:30 a.m.

Scouting the Hatters
Stetson volleyball is coming off a 2–0 weekend against Bethune-Cookman, earning a 3–0 victory over the Wildcats in Daytona Beach before returning to DeLand for a 3–1 win in its home opener.

Freshman Andrea Diaz Dominguez leads the Hatters offensively after an impressive start to her collegiate career, totaling 46 kills and 54 points through 19 sets. She currently leads the team in kills, points, digs and service aces and has already recorded three double doubles on the season. Karsu Bayraktar also delivered a pair of strong performances against Bethune-Cookman, highlighted by a career-high 17 kills and 10 digs for the first double-double of her career Saturday. She hit .382 across the two matches. Jannelize Perez set a career high with 33 digs in Saturday's four-set victory, including 14 digs in the fourth set to help seal the win for the Hatters.

Freshman Sofia Torcello has been a force at the net, leading the team with 23 blocks this season. Torcello recorded seven blocks in her first collegiate match against FIU and followed that performance with another seven-block effort against Merrimack. Vanessa Shevchenko has directed the Hatters' offense, totaling 106 assists while adding 50 digs and 25 kills.

As a team, Stetson has recorded 227 kills through 19 sets, averaging 11.9 kills per set while hitting .215. The Hatters are also averaging 11.2 assists, 15.8 digs and 2.5 blocks per set.

Scouting the Opponent

UCF
UCF has gotten off to a 5–1 start to the regular season. The Knights opened the season with a four-set victory over Robert Morris before sweeping Stony Brook and NC State. UCF followed with wins over Georgetown and Davidson before dropping a five-set match against Wake Forest.

Avah Armour leads the Knights with 92 kills while hitting .296 on 226 attempts, while Abby Schomers runs the offense with 222 assists, averaging more than 10 assists per set. Defensively, Alexa Haley has recorded 99 digs and averages 4.5 digs per set, while Sasha Cohen has been dominant at the net with 36 blocks.

As a team, UCF has recorded 309 kills while hitting .337, averaging more than 14 kills per set. The Knights are also averaging 12.8 assists, 13.2 digs and 2.8 blocks per set.

Ball State
Ball State is off to a scorching start, winning each of its first five contests of the season. The Cardinals opened the season with a five-set victory over Notre Dame before earning wins over Xavier, Western Kentucky, Dayton and Wright State.

Ava Smith and Audrey Geer lead Ball State's attack, with both players totaling more than 60 kills early in the season, while Lindsey Green and Reese Axness have each recorded more than 100 assists to help run the offense. Defensively, Sophie Ledbetter leads the team with 93 digs, while Gwen Crull has a team-high 15 blocks.

As a team, Ball State has totaled 273 kills while hitting .265. The Cardinals are averaging 13.9 assists, 17.3 digs and 1.4 blocks per set.

Furman
Furman carries a 3–3 record into the weekend tournament after going 2–1 this past weekend. The Paladins opened the season with a win over George Washington before falling to North Florida and Georgia. Furman bounced back this past weekend with victories over Presbyterian and Queens before falling to North Carolina A&T.

Izzy Castelloe leads the Paladins with 86 kills through 25 sets, while Emily Navarro orchestrates the offense with 176 assists. Defensively, Kennedy Seekford leads the team with 97 digs, while Kacie Moore leads Furman at the net with 24 blocks, followed closely by Rebekah Buckholz with 22.

As a team, Furman has totaled 293 kills on 881 attempts. The Paladins are averaging 11.7 kills, 10.7 assists, 14.6 digs and 1.9 blocks per set.

Series History
Wednesday's matchup will mark the 68th all-time meeting between Stetson and UCF. The Hatters will face Ball State for the second time, Furman for the 11th time and Campbell for the 21st time this weekend.
