💚Stetson University Cheerleaders are ambassadors for the university and must always act as such! It is our job to demonstrate sportsmanship and Hatter Pride on the field, court, around campus, in the community, and when we compete. 📣
We are excited that you are interested in our 2024 / 2025 Team. Qualified candidates must bring a positive attitude by promoting and developing good sportsmanship, and be independently motivated to learn team material. We will be looking for individuals who display a clean and strong execution of core cheerleading skills. Tumbling skills are preferred but are not required - please DO NOT attempt skills you do not have! The MOST important team requirement is clean technique, ability to learn at a quick independent and virtual pace, willingness to work as a team, and an athletic motivated mindset. Athletes are currently being considered for our COMPETITIVE ADDITION/ALTERNATE positions (focused primarily on our UCA national routines). Athletes must be a current Stetson student, an experienced flyer/top girl, or have elite tumbling skills. All athletes invited to join this team opportunity must go through a personal tryout process which is open October 1st, through the end of fall break on October 13. Roster acceptance will be dependent on full medical clearance, the ability to make all team commitments on or before the week of October 21st, and the understanding that mat placement is not guaranteed (you are an alternate). Any current students. or transfer students, that have missed our tryout processes (fall 24 and competitive additions), or are non-tumbling/not interested in competitive, but are still interested on being considered for our Spring 25 team (basketball/community and university events - January-April commitment), please check back on the website closer to the end of the month, as mid-semester tryout opportunities will be posted in November.
Please contact Coach Melissa (mknepshield@stetson.edu) with any specific questions you may have, or for your personal tryout expectations if you would like to be considered for our UCA Nationals team . We look forward to welcoming new members into our cheer family- GO HATS!!!!! 📣

Cheerleading is a year-round sport. Athletes must remain in good academic and team standing, and stay through full team commitment in order to receive scholarships and further team opportunities. Athletes that participate on 3 teams, and at the discretion of the coach, will be invited back for the following year without having to try out. If only one team will work for you personally as an athlete, please pay attention to tryout dates and expectations, as your spot/scholarship is not guaranteed year to year.
