In the world of sports and academia, some individuals stand out for their talent and multifaceted nature.
Korynn Goolsby is one such individual, a second-year student at Stetson University, where she is making her mark as a cheerleader and a dedicated history major.
With a rich family background and a diverse range of interests, Goolsby's journey is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and the support of loved ones.
Goolsby hails from a close-knit family, with her parents Gary and Deshanta Goolsby, as well as three siblings.
Her father, a small business owner, and her mother, an accountant, have played significant roles in shaping her values and interests.
"My mom played instruments in high school and helped me learn the flute by teaching me the basics early on," Goolsby said. "My dad gave me artistic abilities and experience and helped me create Dork Diva, where I voiced all the characters."
The influence of her parents and extended family members has been instrumental in Goolsby's life, fostering her passion for both academics and athletics.
Goolsby's journey in sports began at a young age, participating in track, basketball, volleyball, and cheer.
However, it was cheerleading that captured her heart and became her primary focus in college.
"I have been cheering for five years, from my sophomore year in high school to my sophomore year in college," Goolsby said. "What I enjoy most about cheerleading is hyping up the crowd and starting cheers so they can cheer along with us."
For Goolsby, the camaraderie and bond with her teammates at Stetson cheer are equally important.
"My favorite thing about Stetson cheer is bonding with my teammates and becoming closer throughout the school year," Goolsby said.
Beyond the cheerleading mat, Goolsby is a devoted history major at Stetson University.
Her love for history stems from a curiosity about the world and its evolution.
"I have always loved learning about history," Goolsby said. "I wanted to grow my knowledge on how the world came to be and other interesting facts around the world."
After completing her undergraduate studies, Goolsby has aspirations of attending Stetson University College of Law and becoming an attorney.
Goolsby's talents extend beyond sports and academics. As a child, she was also involved in the marching band, where she embraced challenges and showcased her versatility.
"I remember when I was in marching band, my band director wanted me to learn the trumpet in two months to perform in festivals and games instead of sticking with the flute," said Goolsby, whose cousin, Rodney Shealey, served as a vice president at Def Jam Recordings. "I wanted to be wherever I was needed for the team, so I decided to play trumpet. I went on to join the jazz band, symphonic band, and even switched from flute to trumpet during concert band."
A native of South Daytona, Fla., Goolsby's dedication to her artistic pursuits is a testament to her commitment to growth and excellence in every endeavor she undertakes.
As she continues her journey at Stetson, Goolsby hopes to leave a lasting legacy as a person who was kind, helpful, caring, energetic, and creative.
Her diverse interests and accomplishments reflect her commitment to personal growth and a desire to make a positive impact in her community.
With the support of her family, teammates, and mentors, Goolsby's future is filled with promise and potential, and she is poised to make her mark on the world in her own unique way.
