Senior Nautia Dudash is a history major and sociology minor from Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, who is in her fourth year as a member of the Stetson cheerleading team.
When asked how she would like to be remembered, Nautia replied, “I would like to be remembered as someone who is kind and can always be depended on. I always want people, peers, and friends to be comfortable with me and come to me if they are ever struggling so I can help them.”
This is the essence of Nautia.
Nautia has been a cheerleader for 17 years. She is a natural at engaging with the crowd, attending events, and showing her school pride.
“I love how we show Stetson pride in everything we do on top of all of the life lessons I learned during my time as a Stetson cheerleader,” she said.
Nautia has been equally passionate about history. After graduation, she plans to work in archaeology before pursuing a career in education, specifically at the university level.
“I have always enjoyed history,” she said. “I decided there are two routes I want to go. The first one is some archeological work, followed by pursuing a career in education, specifically at a university.”
Nautia’s role as a cheerleader extends beyond the team. Her mother has had the biggest influence on her life, and she strives to emulate her by going above and beyond, even for the smallest things.
For instance, during her junior year, she hosted the team at her apartment before a competition to get spray tans and have a little fun.
“I think that I show that by going above and beyond for even the smallest things,” she said. “I made a small party out of the time we had together.”
One of the best ways to get to know someone is to hear a story from their childhood. Nautia participated in pageants since she was six years old. During her first pageant, the photographer was so taken with her that she asked to take pictures with her. Nautia was described as “full of life” and “kind.”
Nautia believes she still exemplifies these traits today.
“It’s really random and pretty on point for a history major, but I can sing the states of the U.S. in alphabetical order very fast, and even won an award for it in fifth grade,” she said.
For someone so gifted, it’s not surprising that Nautia is also really good at something unexpected.
