DeLand, Fla. - Stetson?women's tennis opened the 2006 season with a 4-3 win against Wofford Saturday afternoon at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.

After dropping the doubles point with losses at the no. 1 and no. 2 positions, the Hatters (1-0) came back to win four singles to take the match.

Sophomore Maja Miladinovic (Belgrade, Serbia) earned a win at the second spot, 7-6, 7-6 over Tara Hartness. Senior Marina Levin (Vancouver, B.C.) defeated Ashley Page, 6-3, 6-4 at the?no. 3. Sophomore Catherine Canady (Jacksonville, Fla.) downed Adriane Hodges, 6-3, 6-2 at the fifth position and freshman Samantha Lange (Middle Island, N.Y.) earned a 6-1, 6-1 win against Lauren Prickett at the no. 6.

Stetson plays again Sunday when it hosts Georgia Southern at 12 p.m.
