Atlanta, Ga. -- Stetson picked up its first loss of the Georgia Tech Regency Suites Tournament Friday afternoon with a 3-1 loss to the University of South Florida. 

USF won in four games, 30-26, 30-26, 28-30 and 30-23 to pick up their first win of the tournament.

For the second time in three matches, Rebecca Orzechowicz led the way for the Hatters, recording a double-double of 26 kills and 16 digs.  Liz Gorski also put up a strong showing for the Hatters with a game high of 19 digs.

Stetson put up a great effort, staying within the lead of each game and putting up strong runs to make several lead changes.  The biggest effort came in game three mounting a 7-1 run to take control of the game and force a game four.

Stetson and USF started game one strong with the Hatters going on a 5-2 run to stay within reach of the Bulls, and later made a 7-2 run at the end of game one, but the Bulls would use their strong offense to take the final point and take game one.  the team hit .324 compared to Stetson's .195

Three USF players had double -digit kill outings. Freshman Marcela Gurgel paced the way for the Bull offense, tying her career high in kills with 25. Junior Kristina Fabris hit a team high .469, turning 32 attacks into 19 kills, and senior Ashley Reavis posted her seventh-career double-double with a 14-kill, 14-dig outing.

The Bulls out-hit the Hatters .312-.214 for the match and claimed a 74-65 advantage in kills. 

Stetson plays again Friday, Sept. 15 in Atlanta, Ga., to play in its second match at the Regency Suites Invitational, hosted by Georgia Tech. The Hatters will begin play again on Friday at 5 p.m. against Sam Houston State (3-4).  On Saturday Stetson will meet Georgia Tech (5-2) for the first time since the 1992 season.
