Greensboro, N.C. ? Sophomore Danielle Jackson (Seminole, Fla./Northside Christian) tied for sixth place overall to lead the Stetson women's golf team to a seventh place finish at the UNC Greensboro Starmount Fall Classic on Tuesday. Jackson carded rounds of 72 and 74 to finish four over par at the par-71 layout of Starmount Country Club.
Junior Ashley Kozlowski (Windsor, Conn.) shot 77-78=155 to tie for 34th place while sophomore Lauren Darnell (Gainesville, Ga.) came in one stroke behind her teammate with 75-81=156. Junior Christine Fraser (Kingston, Ontario, Canada) followed one shot behind Darnell with rounds of 78-79=157. Freshman Alex Banham (Peterborough, England) opened with an 83 on Monday before improving her play with an 82 today.
East Carolina cruised to the team title with a +15 mark over two days, led by individual medalist Emelie Lind's score of -1 (70-71=141). The host Spartans (+23) finished second with Elon and Florida International tying for third place at +32. Miami (Fla.) (+33) and Winthrop (+40) took fifth and sixth place, respectively while Stetson's team score of +46 edged Ball State by one stroke to take seventh. Atlantic Sun conference foe Campbell (+57) placed ninth, James Madison (+62) finished 10th and High Point (+70) brought up the rear.
For Hatter women's golf fans participating in the Birdie Watchers program, the team made 18 birdies during the tournament with Fraser collecting a team-high six.
