(Winter Park, Fla.) - Following the very successful weekend in Clemson, SC Stetson Crew competed closer to home but facing tougher competition in “The New Race” hosted by Rollins College. High winds and frequent boat traffic played havoc with boat race times but allowed for a competitive event featuring many obstacles along the way. Second place spots were secured for the Women's Varsity 8, Women's Varsity 4, Men's Varsity 4, Men's Lightweight 4, and Men's Novice 4. The Women's Novice 4 fought choppy waters and a headwind to bring home gold in a tough race against Rollins crew.
“We worked really hard this season, so the past few races have been very rewarding” said Novice Women's stroke Kate Jostes. “We can truly see our hard work paying off.”
Stetson Crew has no scheduled competition this weekend but will face statewide competition at the FIRA Regatta in Tampa the weekend of April 14th. For a team that's faced the complete loss of its equipment and boathouse in the past two months, Stetson Crew is fielding its most competitive team ever.
