(DeLand, Fla.) ? The Stetson women's tennis team dropped a tough 5-2 decision to UCF Friday afternoon at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center. The Hatters (10-11) took two singles matches and sent two others to three sets in the loss to the Knights (9-6).
“This is a tough loss for our team,” head coach Sasha Schmid said. “We had our chances in our singles matches to get four points on the board and fell short today.”
Breanna Atkinson and Samantha Lange picked up singles wins for the Hats. Atkinson defeated Kenza Belbacha in the No. 2 match 7-5, 6-1. Lange topped Becky Gordon 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 6 competition.
“Samantha Lange played an outstanding singles match,” Schmid said. “Breanna competed very well in her singles match and had a good win.”
UCF began the day by sweeping the doubles point.
“UCF is a solid team and the played well today,” Schmid said.
The Hatters wrap up their regular season with a 12:00 noon match Saturday against Marquette at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
