Hatters Compete at ITA Southeast Regional Championships

MIAMI, Fla. — The Stetson women's tennis team competed at the 2026 ITA Southeast Regional Championships this weekend, with the Hatters represented in singles qualifying, the singles main draw and doubles competition at the University of Miami.

"Overall we are happy with how we competed. The intensity and competitiveness was there as well as the want to win. Cami had a huge win yesterday. This gives her the belief that she can match and beat the best in the country," said Director of Tennis Travis Sandlant

In singles qualifying, Lena Karolina Hornecka fell to Mercer's Tea Zivic, 6-0, 3-6, 3-6. Alissia Kivi also competed in qualifying, falling to Milica Vasiliki Milosavljevic of Florida International University, 6-1, 4-6, 4-6.

In the singles main draw, Camila Maldonado Gutierrez opened with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Georgia's Anastasiia Gureva in the Round of 64. Maldonado Gutierrez advanced to the Round of 32, where she fell to Georgia Tech's Taylor Goetz, 6-3, 6-3.

Yuki Mizuguchi faced South Florida's Paulina Montiel in the Round of 64, falling 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 3-6. Mizuguchi bounced back in the consolation bracket, earning a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Mercer's Manon Rosa-Dubreuil.

In doubles, Kivi and Hornecka fell 8-0 to UCF's Jantje Tilbuerger and Marta Mariia Makarova. Maldonado Gutierrez and Mizuguchi also competed, falling 8-6 to Kennesaw State's Maria Ivankovic and Laura Nadaska.
