(DeLand, Fla.) ? Stetson women's golf Head Coach Floyd Kerr announced the signing of Alexandra Banham for the 2007-08 academic year. Banham is a highly decorated student-athlete from Peterborough, England and will be the lone new addition to Kerr's team.
“Alex should represent the Lady Hatter golf team well,” Kerr said. “She is a good student and her junior golf resume is outstanding. I believe she will blend in nicely with our returning players and be a vital part of our team as a freshman.”
Banham was 16th out of 136 at the English Girls' Under 18 and was undefeated for English schools vs. Scotland. Additionally, she played for the Midlands Region and finished second in the South of England Faldo Series.
“She has become technically sound in all aspects of her game, with her putting her best area,” Banham's High School coach David Davis said.
Those skills helped Banham set the course record at Elton Furze Golf Club and earned her First Team Ladies' County Colours.
The Stetson University women's golf team made tremendous strides in 2006-07, breaking into the Top 100 national rankings and reaching as high as No. 36 in the regional rankings.
