DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ? The Stetson women's golf squad fired a final-round 297 en route to a third-place finish at the season-opening 13-team event at the LPGA International.
Stetson (312-297=609) was led by sophomore Lauren Darnell's second consecutive round of 73. Darnell garnered a tie for second place with Barry University's Johanna Soderstrom (71-75=146). Lynn University's Maha Haddioui (72-73=145) won individual medalist honors by a mere one stroke.
Sophomore Danielle Jackson (80-72=152) led the Hatters with a 72 on Sunday and completed play in 13th position. Rounding out the five some was senior Kara Doyle (81-74=155, T19th), junior Ashley Kozlowski (78-79=157, T24th) and freshman Alex Banham (83-78=161, T40th).
Barry (299-298=597) held on to its first round lead to defeat Nova Southeastern by one stroke. The Hatters shot Sunday's top score with a 297.
Stetson will be back in action Fri.-Sun., Sept. 28-30 at the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational.
