Men's Soccer Drops Heart Breaker

Once again the lights went out at the Stetson Socccer Complex as a result of foul weather. The lights went out on the Stetson men's soccer team's four-game winning streak as well. Campbell University traveled to DeLand to take on the Hatters and then slipped out of town after stealing a game in which they were outplayed from start to finish.

Stetson held the advantage in shots 15-3. Stetson came up with nine shots on goal to one for Campbell. Yet the Fighting Camels made its one shot on goal count and defeated the Hatters 1-0.

Campbell's Joseue Soto scored the lone goal of the game in the 51st minute from 20 yards out after being set up on a long pass from Austin Shakle.

Although it was a dagger in the heart of the Hatters players they did not quit and continued to control the pitch for the remainder of the game yet could not drive home the tying goal.

Seven Stetson players had at least one shot on goal yet could not find the net.

The loss dropped Stetson to 5-3-0 on the season, 1-1-0 in A-Sun Conference play. Campbell raised its mark to 5-2-1 and 1-0-1.

The Hatters will return to the field Sunday, October 7 when they host Florida Gulf Coast University.
