ELEVEN STRAIGHT YEARS OF POSTSEASON SOCCER
Stetson enters the 2026 ASUN Championship continuing a remarkable stretch of postseason consistency, having qualified for the conference tournament for the 11th consecutive season. The Hatters earned the No. 4 seed after finishing with 10 points in conference play, securing their spot in the six-team field with a late-season turnaround highlighted by victories over Lipscomb and Jacksonville and a road draw against FGCU.
Despite opening conference play with three losses in their first four matches, the Hatters responded by collecting seven points across their next three ASUN contests, clinching their postseason berth before the regular-season finale. Under head coach Emmett Rutkowski, Stetson has continued to establish itself as a consistent postseason contender, highlighted by its 2024 ASUN Regular Season Championship and a trip to the conference semifinals last season.
Now, the focus shifts to tournament play, where Stetson will look to build on its recent offensive production and advance beyond the opening round for the second consecutive year. The Hatters defeated Central Arkansas 2-1 in last year's quarterfinals, overcoming an early deficit with two second-half goals to secure their place in the semifinals.
A TRADITION OF POSTSEASON SOCCER
11 CONSECUTIVE ASUN CHAMPIONSHIP APPEARANCES
The Hatters return to the conference tournament as the No. 4 seed, seeking a fourth straight trip to the ASUN Semifinals.
AN OFFENSE BUILT FOR THE POSTSEASON
One of Stetson's biggest strengths entering the championship has been its offensive production. The Hatters finished the regular season with 31 goals in 17 matches, ranking second in the ASUN in both total goals and goals per game at 1.82. Stetson has also recorded 27 assists, 213 shots and 85 shots on goal, reflecting an attack that has become increasingly dangerous throughout the season.
After managing just nine goals over its opening 10 matches, Stetson erupted for 22 goals across its final seven contests, posting a 4-2-1 record during that stretch. The surge included four-goal performances against Lipscomb and South Florida, a three-goal outing against Jacksonville and a season-high six goals against Florida Poly. The Hatters also scored twice at FGCU before closing the regular season with a goal against Central Arkansas.
Graduate student Afonso Conde has led the way with six goals and 13 points, including three game-winning goals. Sophomore Valentin Fontaine follows with four goals and nine points, while freshman Matthew Perez has contributed three goals and two assists. Daniel Makowem and Williams Mills have each added three goals, while Israel Daniels leads the team with five assists.
The Hatters have also benefited from contributions throughout their lineup, with Zsombor Pall, Mauricio Restrepo, Justin Blanco and Benjamin Donato each providing key attacking moments. That balance has given Stetson several scoring options heading into a matchup with one of the ASUN's top defensive teams.
OFFENSIVE PRODUCTION
31 GOALS • 27 ASSISTS • 1.82 GOALS PER GAME
Stetson ranks second in the ASUN in scoring, having produced 22 goals across its final seven regular-season matches.
LAST TIME OUT: CENTRAL ARKANSAS
Stetson closed the regular season with a 3-1 setback against Central Arkansas on Saturday night at the Athletic Training Center. The Bears secured the victory to finish second in the conference standings, while the Hatters entered the postseason as the No. 4 seed.
Zsombor Pall supplied Stetson's lone goal in the contest, bringing his season total to two goals and two assists. The result snapped the Hatters' three-match unbeaten streak in ASUN play, but Stetson enters the championship having scored in seven consecutive matches and produced multiple goals in six of those outings.
With the regular season behind them, the Hatters will look to return to the form that helped secure their postseason berth and translate their recent attacking success into another tournament run.
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
Bellarmine enters the ASUN Championship with a 7-3-5 overall record and a 2-3-3 mark in conference play, earning the No. 5 seed following a 1-1 draw at Queens in its regular-season finale. The Knights have been one of the conference's most difficult teams to break down, allowing just 13 goals in 15 matches for a 0.87 goals-against average while recording six shutouts.
Offensively, Bellarmine has scored 25 goals, averaging 1.67 per contest, while generating 199 shots and 90 shots on goal. The Knights have found success through a balanced attack, with Teddy Franke leading the team with five goals and 11 points. Colin Mackey follows with four goals and a team-high four assists for 12 points, while Johan Nissen-Lie and Nathan Krall have each scored three times.
Bellarmine's defensive strength has been supported by its goalkeeping combination of Tudor Iordan and Benny Howard. Iordan has appeared in 13 matches with 10 starts, recording a 0.93 goals-against average and .731 save percentage, while Howard owns a 0.80 goals-against average and .760 save percentage. Together, they have helped the Knights hold opponents to just 49 shots on goal throughout the regular season.
The Knights enter Saturday unbeaten in their last two matches, having defeated Lipscomb 3-0 before drawing Queens. Bellarmine also earned a scoreless draw against regular-season champion North Florida on October 10, demonstrating its ability to limit some of the conference's top opponents. Saturday's matchup will test whether Stetson's high-scoring attack can break through one of the league's most organized defensive units.

SERIES HISTORY: A CHANCE FOR REDEMPTION
Saturday marks the eighth all-time meeting between Stetson and Bellarmine, with the Knights holding a 3-1-3 advantage in the series. The matchup has featured several closely contested meetings since the programs first met in 2021, including postseason encounters in both 2022 and 2023.
The Hatters and Knights last met in the ASUN Championship on November 6, 2023, when Stetson traveled to Louisville for a semifinal matchup. Stetson jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind first-half goals from Afonso Conde and Alvaro Gabancho, but Bellarmine rallied to equalize late in regulation before scoring the game-winner on a penalty kick in double overtime to advance with a 3-2 victory.
The programs also squared off in the 2022 ASUN first round, playing to a 2-2 draw before Bellarmine advanced 3-0 in a penalty-kick shootout. Stetson's lone series victory came in the first meeting on October 23, 2021, when the Hatters claimed a 4-2 home win.
Earlier this season, Bellarmine earned a 1-0 victory over Stetson in Louisville on September 5. Saturday offers the Hatters another opportunity to reverse that result, this time with a place in the conference semifinals on the line.
