Fort Myers, Fla. ? The Stetson men's soccer team, 4-4-2 overall, evened its A-Sun Conference record at 1-1-1 with a 1-0 road win at Florida Gulf Coast (2-8-1, 0-3-0) Saturday night.
Stetson defender Robert Hodge (Devon, England) scored the game's only goal on a penalty kick at 42:04 of the first half. The Hatters' designated “Penalty Kicker” was allowed the opportunity after the Eagles took down a Stetson player in the box. It was Hodge's first goal of the season.
Stetson held a 5-4 advantage in shots in the first half, while overall FGCU led 10-8.
Stetson goalkeeper Marc Galizia (Bradenton, Fla.) faced 10 shots, made four saves, and picked up his second shutout of the season.
After six consecutive road games, Stetson will be back on the home pitch this Friday and Sunday when they take on Jacksonville (7:00 p.m.) and North Florida (4:00 p.m.) respectively.
