DeLand, Fla. ? Junior pitcher Amanda Lindsey (Byhalia, Miss.) went four for seven at the plate with a three-run home run and six RBI and also tossed five shutout innings as the Stetson softball team beat Bethune-Cookman 9-3 in a 16-inning exhibition Saturday at Patricia Wilson Field.
Senior first baseman Andrea Migliori (Winter Garden, Fla.) doubled and hit her first home run of the fall season while senior pitcher Erica Demers (Miami, Fla.) threw five scoreless innings as well, allowing just one hit and striking out nine.
Freshman right fielder Grace Turner (Fort Myers, Fla.) went two for three with a double while freshman catcher Danielle Kildow (Navarre, Fla.) ripped a two-run double of her own in the late innings.
Lindsey's three-run shot in the bottom of the second provided the only runs Stetson would need as she and Demers shut the Wildcats down for 10 innings. Bethune-Cookman struck for three runs in the top of the 11th on Cesley Tafoya's RBI single and a two-run home run off the bat of Allison Garcia against junior Nicole Peltz (Navarre, Fla.). Peltz settled down the rest of the way, blanking B-CU on six hits over the final four frames.
Stetson completed its fall slate with a 4-1 record and now turns its attention towards the spring regular season and its attempt to reclaim the Atlantic Sun Conference championship.
