DeLand, Fla. ? The Stetson women's tennis team (7-8) got back on the winning track Sunday afternoon with a 7-0 sweep of visiting Florida A&M at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center. Sophomore Natalie Gorham (Miami, Fla.) and freshman Jacqueline Faulk (Port Charlotte, Fla.) picked up their first wins of the spring season.
Gorham and Faulk dominated their Rattler foes at #5 and #6 singles, respectively. Gorham won 6-2, 6-0 over Samaria Bailey while Faulk eased past Lenice Boyd 6-1, 6-1.
Senior Catherine Canady (Jacksonville, Fla.) and sophomore Breanna Atkinson (Bradenton, Fla.) also won in straight sets. All three doubles matches went to Stetson with Gorham and junior Samantha Lange (Middle Island, N.Y.) putting up the most complete win, taking down Bailey and Boyd 8-1 at #3 singles.
The Hatters return to the courts tomorrow, hosting Air Force at 2:30 p.m. at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center. Stetson began a five match homestand today.
