Munz Strikes Twice in Win over Belmont

DeLand, Fla. - For the second consecutive game Kevin Munz (Jupiter, Fla.) scored a pair of goals and led Stetson (9-1-1, 3-1-0) to a win; this time 2-1 over Belmont University (1-10-1, 0-4-0). Munz now has a career-high five goals on the season and is just three points shy of the team scoring lead with 15 points. Last year he scored four goals for the Hatters.

Stetson's first goal came in the 25th minute as the result of a nifty give-and-go with the team's leading scorer Griffin Gilstrap (Safety Harbor, Fla.). Munz hit Gilstrap in the center of the box. The return pass found Munz on the right side where he ripped a shot past Bruins keeper Lou Manning.

After the break Stetson once again struck first. Gilstrap passed the ball into the box from the left flank to Dan Sackman (Hampshire, England). Sackman then slipped a through ball to Munz who blasted a shot lower left for his second tally of the game.

The game remained scoreless until the 73rd minute when Belmont's Will Moorad (Brentwood, Tenn.) came flying across the box on a set piece off an indirect free kick and delivered a header to the lower left corner. There was nothing Stetson keeper Logan Potter (Merritt Island, Fla.) could do to stop the goal.

"We may have dominated ball possession today yet we need to be quicker and faster", said Stetson Head Coach T. Logan Fleck. "I am glad we won, however I want us to not just dominate possession, but to set up penetrating passes that give us goal scoring opportunities, like we did Friday against Lipscomb."

Stetson finished the game with a 22-6 advantage in shots and 5-3 in corner kicks. Stetson came into the weekend ranked #7 in the NSCAA South Region poll and did not do anything to hurt its standing with a pair of wins over A-Sun Opponents.

Next week the Hatters travel north to take on USC Upstate on Friday and ETSU on Sunday.
