Hatters Play to Draw with Bulldogs

Jacksonville, Fla. - The Stetson men's soccer team remained unbeaten on the season after playing to a 1-1 tie with Alabama A&M Sunday afternoon in the JU/Nike Classic hosted by Jacksonville University. The Hatters are now 6-0-1 on the season, while the Bulldogs are 2-7-1.

Stetson struck first when sophomore Ryan Asare-Bediako (Tampa, Fla.) scored the first goal of his career. With just four seconds remaining in the first half Asare-Bediako was set up by John Rayha on a cross from the left flank. The assist represented the first career point for the freshman from Sugar Land, Texas.

Half way through the second half Alabama A&M tied the score when Eric Kamya slipped one past Stetson goalkeeper Logan Potter (Merritt Island, Fla.) off a deflection in the box.

After a pair of scoreless overtime periods both teams went home with a point.

The Hatters, ranked 7th in the most recent NSCAA South Region poll will return to Jacksonville next weekend to open the Atlantic Sun Conference season. They will go head-to-head with JU on Friday at 8:00 p.m. and North Florida Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
