Fort Myers, Fla. - Stetson fought hard all night yet fell short in the end after surrendering a golden goal in the first minute of the second overtime period to FGCU. The 1-0 loss resulted in the Hatters falling to 8-4-1 overall and 5-2-0 in the A-Sun while the Eagles improved to 11-3-2 and 7-0-0 in conference play.
Deion Jones tallied the game-winner, it was the 6th goal of the season for Jones. FGCU finished with a 16-12 advantage in shots and up 8-2 in corner kick opportunities. The win clinched a tie for the regular season A-Sun championship for the Eagles.
Fredrik Brustad led the Hatters with four shots followed by Jonathan Mendoza with two.
Next up for Stetson is a non-conference tilt with UCF before returning home for the final two A-Sun games of the season. The Hatters will take on the #23 ranked Knights Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. in Orlando. They will complete the regular season at home against UNF on Friday, October 29 at 7:00 p.m. and then Jacksonville Sunday, October 31 at 4:00 p.m.
